Senior Corey McMahon of Glenview, Illinois (Glenbrook South HS), matched his career-high with 14 points as the Hope College men's basketball team defeated Olivet 108-72 on Wednesday at DeVos Fieldhouse.

The Flying Dutchmen improved to 15-7 overall and moved into a second-place in the MIAA standings after league co-leader Trine lost at Alma. Hope is 8-3 in MIAA play and trails first-place Calvin by one game.

McMahon shared game-high scoring honors with teammates Alex Eidson of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven HS), and Ben Gardner of Carmel, Indiana (Carmel HS). McMahon previously had scored 14 points twice in his career.

The 100-point game was the 149th in Hope's history and second this season. The Flying Dutchmen own a 146-3 record when they reach the 100-point mark.

Sophomore Harrison Blackledge of Canton, Ohio (Hoover HS), chipped in 11 points for Hope.

The Flying Dutchmen shot 59.4 percent from the field (41-69) and 50 percent from 3-point range (12-24). Gardner made all six of his field-goal attempts. Eidson went 4-of-6 and made all four of his 3-point attempts.

Hope's defense excelled during the first half en route to a 55-17 lead. The Flying Dutchmen came within two points of matching their 2006 DeVos Fieldhouse record for fewest points allowed in a half. Hope gave up 15 in the first half while defeating Adrian 77-51.

The Flying Dutchmen return to action on Saturday, February 14, with an 8 p.m. game at fourth-place Alma. Hope can clinch a berth in the MIAA Tournament with a win.
