BEVERLY, Mass. – Junior captain Irving Eggleston (East Lyme, Conn.) recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards in Nichols College's 85-80 loss at Endicott College Tuesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball action at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Classmate Christian Horton (Rutland, Mass.) chipped in with 18 points, four rebounds, and two assists for the Bison (17-5, 14-1 CCC), who saw their 12-game win streak snapped. Junior Gustave Koumare (Harlem, N.Y.) chipped in with 16 points – including three 3-poiners – while senior captain Matt Langadas (Sebago, Maine) scored 11.

Nichols – which never led in the game – shot 43 percent from the field and 10-of-32 from behind the arc (10-of-32). The Bison held a 41-37 edge on the glass, led by Eggleston's 11 and six from Koumare and both senior Chris Johnson (Mansfield, Mass.) and Joe Gallant (Salem, N.H.).

Sophomore Kamahl Walker (Worcester, Mass.) led three Gulls in double-figures with 25 points in 35 minutes of action. Sophomore Max Motroni (West Warwick, R.I.) netted 23 points – including 5-of-6 from three-point land – while senior John Henault (Lunenburg, Mass.) finished with 13 points.

Endicott (17-5, 13-2 CCC) shot 45 percent from the floor (28-of-62) and made 20-of-30 from the charity stripe – including 16-of-26 in the second half. The Gulls led for all but 2:10 of the contest and forced the Bison to commit more turnovers (14) than they have in any game since January 20.

The Gulls utilized strong three-point field goal defense in the opening half against the league's top shooting team from beyond the arc to hold Nichols to just 26 points and 3-of-15 from long range.

Endicott built a double-digit lead by the midway point of the first half and took its largest lead of the game (19 points) with 1:25 remaining. Motroni scored 13 of his 23 points on a flawless shooting performance in 18 first-half minutes, knocking down all four of his shots – including three from 3-point range. Walker added 10 while six points off the bench. Eggleston and Langadas each had six for the Bison.

The second half belonged to the Bison, who found their shooting touch and aggressiveness on the boards to outscore Endicott 54-41 in the period. Nichols shot 54 percent in the second half – including 41 percent from behind the three-point line (7-of-17) – and outrebounded the Gulls 27-14. Eggleston, Koumare, and Horton all scored in double figures in the second half to pull the Bison to within single digits down the stretch.

The Bison play at UNE Saturday at 1 p.m. The Gulls play at Curry Saturday at 3 p.m.
