Men's basketball defeats Millsaps, 66-60

ROME, Ga. - - Led by Tyler Harville's game-best 18 points, the Berry College men's basketball team defeated Millsaps College at home on Sunday. The victory was the second straight win for the Vikings, as well as their first ever Southern Athletic Association weekend sweep.

Harville was 5-of-13 shooting for BC. He also sank four three-pointers in the contest and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

The win improved the Vikings to 7-13 overall and 3-7 in the SAA. The Majors dropped to 6-14 and 2-7.

"After Friday's emotional win, I thought we came out a little flat tonight--but we did enough to get the win today," said BC Head Coach Jeff Rogers. "It was nice to get our first SAA weekend sweep, and we are continuing to get better."

Berry led 33-30 at halftime. The Vikings won the battle of the boards, 38-28. BC shot 45-percent (22-48) to the Majors' 41-percent (21-51).

Three other BC players scored double-digits for points in the win as well: Lee McCloudZack Chaykowsky, and Owen Jacobs.

Jacobs posted his second double-double in a row, scoring 11 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in the win. He was 4-for-5 shooting.

Chaykowsky scored 12 points in the win and was 4-11 shooting. He sank three three-pointers for the Vikings and collected four rebounds.

McCloud put up 10 points for BC, six of which came from three-point shots. He was 4-for-11 shooting and 3-5 from the free throw line. He also grabbed six rebounds for the Berry defense in the win.

For the Majors, Josh McSwain scored 15 points in the loss. McSwain was 7-10 shooting for the Millsaps offense.

BC will travel to Lookout Mountain, Georgia, on Tuesday, February 10, to play Covenant College in their next game at 7 p.m.​
