SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 6, 2015) – Behind another stellar defensive performance and a career-high 20 points from senior Marcellus Caldwell, the Sewanee men's basketball team earned a 70-58 win over Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Hendrix, Friday, inside Juhan Gymnasium.

The Tigers have now won three straight games and eight straight contests at home. Sewanee, who is now 13-7 overall and 7-2 in league play, are tied with rival Rhodes atop the SAA standings.

Currently, Rhodes holds a one-game tiebreaker over Sewanee heading into Sunday's Black Out game on the Domain. The Lynx and Tigers are scheduled to tipoff at 3:00 p.m.

Sewanee opened the game by limiting Hendrix to only one field goal through the first five and half minutes of play. With Hendrix holding its only lead of the game, Sewanee opened a 13-2 scoring run with 6:16 left in the first half.

That would lead the Tigers to a nine-point, 33-24, advantage at the half.

In the final 20 minutes, Hendrix would manage to pull within four, 56-52, after a layup by Travis Garrett. Again, Sewanee answered right back. A layup byKeshonn Carter and a jumper by Jorden Williams sparked a 14-6 run the final six minutes of the contest.

As a team, Sewanee made 51.2 percent of its attempts while limiting Hendrix to a 36.5 field goal percentage.

Along with Caldwell's 20 points, Williams poured in 18 points and three assists. Overall, nine players scored for Sewanee.

Garrett led Hendrix with a team-high 11 points.
