Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's basketball team received 40 points off the bench in the second half as a furious comeback bid fell short as the Roos dropped a 91-81 decision to cross-town rival St. Lawrence University on Tuesday in the Roos House.

Vonallen Pickett (Brooklyn, NY) led the Roos (12-4) with 19 points and nine rebounds off the bench, 15 of which came after halftime. He shot an efficient 7-for-12 from the floor leading the team in both points and boards. Adam Felt (Lisbon, NY) chipped in 12 second half points with a flurry of three-pointers going 4-for-5 from distance.Kam Peterkin (Harlem, NY) added 11 points on 3-for-5 shooting from behind the arc.

Romario Fletcher powers to the hoop in transition against the Saints.

Khalil Bratton (Queens, NY) finished with 11 points and eight rebounds, while Sam Annorh (Queens, NY) struggled shooting the ball but posted nine points and a team-best five assists. Xzavier Fisher (Brooklyn, NY) also had a strong game stuffing the stat sheet with two points, four assists and three rebounds in just nine minutes.

SUNY Canton got off to a strong start as they controlled the opening tip and six seconds in Annorh hit Bratton with an alley-oop bringing the crowd to its feet. Just minutes later Annorh found Romario Fletcher (Queens, NY) along the baseline for another oop even more thrilling than the first.

The Roos led by as many as three at 8-5 early after a Matt Spencer (Gouverneur, NY) bucket in the paint. With 12:43 left in the opening half SUNY Canton led 13-12 but St. Lawrence used a 14-0 run over the next five minutes to take control of the contest. The Saints led 41-27 at intermission.

St. Lawrence opened up its largest lead of the game midway through the second stanza but the Roos continued to battle. Felt, Pickett and Peterkin gave SUNY Canton a huge lift off the bench and helped the Roos trim the deficit all the way back to nine points after a Pickett lay-up with 1:28 remaining.

SUNY Canton continued to press and looked to have forced a turnover with 1:11 remaining hoping to cut the deficit to a two possession game, but was whistled for a foul. The visiting Saints would hold on for a 91-81 victory.

Brady Condlin led all players with 26 points and 13 rebounds for St. Lawrence. Riley Naclerio added 18 points, 16 of which came after intermission. Willie Zachery finished with 17 points and six assists, while Kyle Edwards added 15 points.

The men's basketball team will look to get back on track on Friday when it hosts SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry at 7:00 p.m. in the Roos House.
