Baruch Edges Lehman (72-70) in Exciting Battle of Lexington Classic

The Baruch College Bearcats edged out the Lighting of Lehman College, 72-70, in an exciting 11th Annual Battle of Lexington contest on Thursday night in the ARC Arena.

The two teams played a very highly entertaining contest in front of a large crowd and were tied at 66 with 2:30 left.
Edward Roscignoscored on a driving layup and the Bearcats hit four of six free throws in the final minute to squeeze out the win as a Lehman three fell short at the buzzer.

Roscigno scored a season-high 16 points to go along with seven assists and three steals in 39 minutes of action. For his efforts, he was named the John Conboy Memorial Game MVP.

The MVP is in honor of John Conboy, who played three years for Baruch and his senior year at Lehman during the early 1970s. He later served as Head Coach for the Baruch women's basketball team during the 1984-86 seasons. To this day, he is fondly remembered by the basketball alumni from both schools. The MVP plaque is awarded to the best player in the second regular season meeting between the two schools.

Lehman shot 7-of-14 from three all evening. They were led by Chaun Miller with 20 points and five rebounds.

For the Bearcats,
Granville Gittensscored a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Chimaechi Ekekeugborhad another solid game with 17 points in a win that keeps the Bearcats undefeated in CUNYAC at 12-0.

The men's basketball team will resume action on Sunday, February 8, with a 4:00 pm game at York College. The two teams were initially scheduled to play on Wednesday, January 28, but it was postponed by weather and travel concerns.
