Hope Men's Basketball Tops Trine In OT, Grabs Share Of MIAA Lead

Sophomore Harrison Blackledge scored a career-high 27 points as the Hope College men's basketball team defeated Trine 73-63 in overtime on Saturday and grabbed a share of the MIAA lead.

The Flying Dutchmen (13-6 overall) joined Calvin and Trine atop the league standings with 6-2 league records. Hope plays at Calvin on Wednesday, February 4, at 6 p.m.

The Flying Dutchmen outscored Trine 16-6 during the five-minute overtime.

Blackledge scored nine points during overtime. The forward from Canton, Ohio (Hoover HS), passed his previous career high of 22 points at Trine on January 7 during a 65-62 loss.

Blackledge's 27 points tied teammate Alex Eidson for the eighth-most scored by a Hope player at DeVos Fieldhouse.

Sophomore guard Chad Carlson of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS), added nine points on three 3-pointers for Hope. 

Junior center Brock Benson of Willowbrook, Illinois (Hinsdale South HS), and sophomore forward Cody Stuive chipped in eight points apiece for the Flying Dutchmen. 

Hope has now won a season-high six consecutive games.
