NEWPORT, R.I. – Senior captain Matt Langadas (Sebago, Maine) led four student-athletes in double-figures with 25 points as the Nichols College men's basketball team improved to 10-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play with a 75-61 win over Salve Regina Thursday night at the Rogers Recreation Center.

Langadas knocked down four 3-pointers and dished out a pair of assists in 37 minutes of action for the Bison (13-4), who never trailed in the contest and led for all but 1:46 of the contest. Junior captain Irving Eggleston (East Lyme, Conn.) dropped in 21 points and snared five rebounds while junior Gustave Koumare (Harlem, N.Y.) racked up 10 points, 10 rebounds, and seven dimes. Junior captain Christian Horton (Rutland, Mass.) played all 40 minutes and registered 16 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

Freshman Bryce Boggs (Hyde Park, Mass.) paced the Seahawks (5-13, 2-9 CCC) with 18 points to go along with 10 boards. Junior Barrett Hanlon (Hopkinton, Mass.) scored 13 points and also tallied six rebounds, four assists, and three blocked shots.

Nichols shot 36 percent from the floor and rattled in seven 3's. The Bison also went to the free throw line 40 times, sinking 28 of them (70 percent) – including 11 from Horton and nine from Langadas. They also committed only 12 turnovers and held a 46-41 edge on the glass as senior Chris Johnson (Mansfield, Mass.) and senior captain Joe Gallant (Salem, N.H.) and pulled down eight and seven rebounds, respectively. Gallant also blocked three shots.

Eggleston got the scoring started on the opening possession with a layup. Salve Regina freshman Adam Quinlan (East Walpole, Mass.) matched with a layup at the other end for the only tie of the game. The Bison went on a 7-0 run. Boggs broke the Bison press with a resounding dunk, courtesy of a screen by Quinlan that opened a path for his classmate.

Hanlon swished a three-pointer to trim the deficit to two, 9-7, but the Bison ripped off a 19-8 run to gain a 13-point lead (28-15) with 7:38 on the clock. Langadas scored 14 through the first 12:22 of the contest while Eggleston chipped in with seven. After a Boggs' layup cut the lead to 10 (31-21 at 5:21), Langadas had a three-pointer and Eggleston hit a short jumper for the largest lead at 36-21.

Junior Brendan Fowler (North Attleboro, Mass.) came off the bench to provide inside production, scoring six first-half points. Hanlon's three-pointer with 51 seconds left in the opening period brought Salve Regina within seven, 38-31, but Eggleston finished the scoring with a layup.

Nichols built a 13-point lead (45-32) three minutes into the second half following a three from Koumare. The Seahawks answered with a 14-5 run to climb to within four, sparked by a pair of layups from graduate student Scott St. Lawrence (Litchfield, N.H.).

Two free throws apiece from Langadas and Eggleston pushed the lead back to eight (54-46). Boggs' layup at 6:33 made the score 56-52, before an 8-0 run for the Bison featured five free throws and a long three-pointer for Horton made it 64-52 with 3:49 to go.
