Baruch Cruises Past Hunter, Granville Gittens Scores Career 1,000th Point

The Baruch College Bearcats shot 50 percent and Granville Gittensscored his 1,000th career point to lead the Bearcats to an 81-43 CUNYAC home win over Hunter College on Friday night in the ARC Arena.

Gittens became the 20th player in team history to reach the milestone with a dunk at the 5:40 mark of the first half. He led all scorers this evening with 18 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots.


Chimaechi Ekekeugborscored 17 points and eight rebounds, while Jack Shanahanscored a season-high 14 points (3-4 3fg) off the bench in the home rout.

The Bearcats shot 57 percent (16-of-28) in the opening half to build up a comfortable 44-21 halftime lead.

Hunter shot 31 percent (13-of-42) in the game and attempted 17 less shots. Lester Anim and Blendi Ibraj led the visiting Hawks (6-12, 3-7 CUNYAC) with seven points each.

The Bearcats will return to action on Wednesday, January 28, with an 8:00 pm CUNYAC contest at York College in Jamaica, New York.
