RIVER FALLS (January 21, 2015) - Both teams had three players score in double figures, but UW-River Falls held a decided advantage at the free throw line and gave UW-Stout an 88-78 loss Wednesday at Karges Center.
The Falcons (7-10, 5-3 WIAC) connected on 18-of-22 shots from the charity stripe, while the Blue Devils (3-14, 0-8 WIAC) hit on 5-of-17 chances from the line.
Both teams were not afraid to launch the long ball. Stout hit on 9-of-20 from 3-point range with Isaac Elliott (Fr, Stevens Point) draining all three of his attempts and John Keefe (Fr, Medford) hitting 3-of-5 chances. The Falcons connected on 8-of-18 3-point shots, with Jon Christensen hitting 3-of-4 shots from downtown.
Christensen led all scorers with 19 points, making all four of his free throw attempts. CJ Lewis scored 11 points and made all four of his free throw attempts. Joe Deppe scored 10 points for the Falcons.
The Blue Devils were led by Jarvis Ragland (Sr, Milwaukee) with 18 points. Ragland came off the bench, but still clocked a team-high 34 minutes. Elliott finished with 14 points and Keefe had 13 points. Elliott and Keefe also came off the bench.
Stout will host UW-Platteville, Saturday, Jan. 24 at 3 p.m. The date is the annual alumni game and the Blue Devils will also recognize the 1974-75 WSUC championship team at halftime.
