BC men's basketball edged by Hendrix

ROME, Ga. -- Newcomer Tyler Harville had a game-best 22 points, but Berry College fell to Hendrix College, 79-73, on Friday night.

The Vikings dropped to 4-8 and 0-2 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Warriors moved to 5-6, 1-1.

Harville, a freshman suiting up for his first game after transferring in, had 17 points at halftime. BC led 33-30 at the break.

Harville led the Berry offense shooting 8-22 and made four three pointers.

Three other Berry players posted double digit points in the loss: Zack ChaykowskyNick Marder, and Owen Jacobs.

Chaykowsky scored 11 points for the Vikings. He was 5-9 shooting, and he also hit one three point shot on the night. Marder posted 16 points for BC in the loss. He was a perfect 4-4 shooting, as well as a perfect 2-2 from beyond the three point mark. Marder was also 6-8 from the free throw line. Jacobs put up 13 points for Berry, five of which came from the free throw line.

For the Warriors, Travis Garrett put up 16 points in the win. Garrett was 5-7 shooting, as well as 5-7 from beyond the three point line.

HC shot 63-percent (22-35) in the game and made its last eight free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

"It was a physical game and we played hard in the post," said Head Coach Jeff Rogers. "We are a young team and are still learning. Experience in close games will help us down the road."

Berry hosts Rhodes College on Sunday at 3 p.m.
