Baruch Rallies to Defeat TCNJ (65-63)

The Baruch College Bearcats overcame a 14-point deficit to defeat the Lions from the College of New Jersey, 65-63, in a non-conference contest on Monday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats (10-3) started the first half shooting 32 percent, including one-of-eight from 3-point range, to dig themselves into a 32-22 halftime disadvantage.

The visiting Lions started shooting 40 percent and would lead by as much as 14 points (29-15) before the break.

The Bearcats came alive in the second half by shooting 57 percent (13-for-23) to turn the momentum into their favor.
Granville Gittensscored 16 of his 21 points in the second half, including a driving layup to tie the contest at 46.

TCNJ (7-7) would regain the lead at 50-49 on a pair of free throws by Bobby Brackett, but
Chimaechi Ekekeugborscored on a jumper and Brian McMahonhit a layup with five minutes left for a three-point lead they would not relinquish the rest of the game.


They sealed the win in the final minute by connecting on five-of-six free throws for the 65-63 victory.

Gittens finished with 21 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots.
Edward Roscignohad 11 points and five assists, while Raymond De La Cruz(three steals) and McMahon finished with 10 points each to stay undefeated (7-0) at home.

Jayson Johnson led the visitors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) with 17 points and two steals.

The Bearcats will return to action on Wednesday at 5:00 pm with a CUNYAC road contest at the Lightning of Lehman College.
