Johnson, Kochka lead Tomcats to victory over Titans

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team cruised to a 69-49 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory Saturday over the Westminster Titans.

 

Josh Johnson came off the bench to score 17 points for the Tomcats, 12 of which were scored in the second half. Johnson went 8-of-11 from the field, pulled down five rebounds, gave out four assists, stole the ball four times and blocked three shots.

 

Luke Kochka shot 3-of-6 from three-point range and 6-of-10 overall from the floor to tally 16 points for the Tomcats. Kochka also stole the ball twice. Berto Dryden and Avril Campbell recorded three field goals apiece to combine for 13 points. Campbell also had four rebounds.

 

Eric Mallinger, Khari Bess and Tyreik Burton each had four assists for the Tomcats. Clandell Cetoute grabbed eight rebounds.

 

For the Titans, Deontay Scott scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

 

The Tomcats never trailed in the game. They shot 52.8 percent (28-of-53) from the field and knocked down five three-pointers. The Tomcats scored 40 points in the paint and the bench scored 35 points.

 

Thiel (7-6, 4-1 PAC) will travel to Waynesburg University Wednesday to take on the Yellow Jackets in a conference matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
