SCHENECTADY, NY -- William Hython scored 19 points with 14 rebounds and Deshon Burgess also had 19 points but Union lost to Bard, 78-77 in a Liberty League men's basketball game at the Viniar Athletic Center Saturday afternoon. The Raptors are now 7-5 for the season and 2-1 in league play, and the Dutchmen fell to 8-5 and 2-2.

Hython has seven rebounds offensively and seven on the defensive side in recording his 12th double-double. Burgess was 10 for 13 at the line. Kevin Weckworth scored 13 points with six rebounds and Ryan Whelpley had 12 with seven boards. Union shot 36% and forced 20 turnovers while finishing with just nine turnovers.

Siondueh Burnette had 13 points for the Raptors, and made all of his five free throws. DeVahnte Mosley was six for six at the line with 12 points and Alex Fabean-Scotch finished with 10 points. Brandon Cunningham pulled down nine boards with nine points. Bard shot 54% from the floor and made 22 of 26 free throws for an 85% mark at the charity stripe.

Bard led by six at the half at 39-33, featuring 54% shooting. In the second half, the Raptors led by as many as 12 at 69-57 with just 5:54 left after two free throws by Mosley. It was a 10 point advantage at 72-62 with 4:17 left as Mosley converted two more. But Union went on a 10-0 run over the next 2:18. Whelpley had three points and a Burgess dunk with 1:59 left after a second straight steal and basket for Union tied it at 72-72. Cunningham made two free throws and then a layup by Pat Kelly for Bard made it 76-72 with 1:12 left for Bard. Burgess made a three point play as his free throw with 58 seconds left made it 76-75. But with 14 seconds left officials called a technical on Union as a Dutchman player was ruled to have called a timeout when Union did not have any remaining. Fabean-Scotch made two free throws to make it 78-75, and a Hython jumper in the final second provided the final.

Union is on the road next week with Liberty League games Friday at St. Lawrence and Saturday at Clarkson.
