CLINTON, N.Y. -- Trinity College's Ed Ogundeko '17 scored 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds off the bench as the Bantams posted a 60-51 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Saturday afternoon.
Trinity (2-0 NESCAC, 12-2) extended its win streak to 10 games with a solid defensive effort. The Bantams held the Continentals to 37.9 percent shooting and held a 40-30 advantage on the boards.
Alex Conaway '15 dropped in 11 points and Andrew Hurd '16 added 10 points and five rebounds off the bench for Trinity. The Bantams shot 50 percent, including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc, in the second half.
For Hamilton (0-2, 10-4), Joseph Lin '15 poured in a career-high 27 points and dished out six assists. Lin leads the NESCAC with 6.5 assists per game.
Ajani Santos '16 chipped in 13 points and four of the Continentals' seven blocked shots. Peter Kazickas '15 pulled down six rebounds before he fouled out late in the second half. Hamilton committed just six turnovers and has given the ball away 11 times in its last two games.
Neither team led by more than five points in the first half and there were three ties. Hurd's 3-pointer with 1:56 left were the last points of the half and the teams went to the break deadlocked at 29-29.
Trinity started the second half with an 11-2 run as the Continentals made just one field goal in the first eight-plus minutes. A 3-pointer by Jaquann Starks '16 started the Bantams' spurt and George Papadeas '15 added a layup for a 34-29 lead. A jumper by Santos pulled Hamilton within three points with 14:23 remaining but Chris Turnbull '17 nailed a jumper, Ogundeko drove in for a layup and Shay Ajayi '16 scored from the paint for a 40-31 Trinity cushion with 12:15 to go.
The Continentals didn't get closer than five points the rest of the way. The biggest lead for the Bantams was 11 points twice at 50-39 and 60-49. Hamilton shot 35.5 percent and missed all five of its 3-point attempts in the final 20 minutes.
The Continentals travel to Colby College for another NESCAC game on Friday, Jan. 16. Trinity hosts Merchant Marine in non-conference action on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
