MADISON, N.J. (Jan. 8, 2015) – Efficient team shooting and 28 points from junior guard Mike Klinger led the Drew University men's basketball team to a 91-78 victory over Moravian College in Landmark Conference action on Thursday evening in Baldwin Gymnasium.

Klinger set the tone for the Rangers' high percentages in all areas of the hardwood in the conference win, shooting 10-of-13 from the floor and 5-of-6 from three-point range to pace the Drew (8-5, 4-1 Landmark) offense. Klinger was one of four Rangers scoring in double digits with junior center Kevin-Michael Miller adding 17 on 8-of-10 field goals and junior guard Kevin Herring II contributing 16 with four three-pointers of his own. Junior swingman Ozan Yucetepe netted 15 and sank three of Drew's 14 three-pointers.

The energy level was cranked up early in the contest thanks to an ally-oop dunk delivered by Herring II to a waiting Miller, who rattled the rim for the first points of the game 1:21 in. Drew's sharpshooting was evident early as it only took 12 minutes into the first half for the Rangers to stake their largest lead of the evening at 39-17. By halftime, Drew had made 11-of-19 from beyond the arc to take a comfortable 51-37 advantage into the locker room. The bulk of Moravian's offense came by way of post play and second chance points following offensive rebounds, but team passing from Drew opened up enough open jump shots and close-range buckets to hold the lead.

The second half began with an offensive spurt from the Rangers (1-11, 0-4) and a 6-0 run had the Greyhounds down eight at 53-45 with 18:45 to play. Miller snuffed out the run with a turnaround jump shot in the paint that took a few bounces and headed through the hoop to send Drew on a 12-2 run to regain the 18-point lead, fittingly capped by a Miller fast-break layup with 13:48 remaining in the contest.

Midway through the final 20 minutes, back-to-back layups from Klinger and senior forward Zach Nolan had the Rangers up 20 again. Nolan's bucket benefitted from a nice drive and no-look dish from Yucetepe from close range.

The Greyhounds would get as close as 13 with 3:50 to play, but senior guards Brian Ford and Robby Bier led the defensive effort to keep the double-digit lead down the stretch.

Moravian, paced by the double-double performance of 23 points and 11 rebounds by Brandon McGuire, held a 39-29 rebounding advantage and won the battle for points in the paint 52-36. Drew's 53-percent field goal shooting and 7-of-9 mark from the free throw line proved to be the difference as Drew maintained its third place standing in the Landmark Conference with a 4-1 record.

Drew returns to Baldwin Gym on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 4:00 p.m. to continue Landmark Conference play with a clash against The Catholic University of America, the second game of a Drew basketball doubleheader on Saturday.
