Baruch Stays Undefeated at Home, Defeat John Jay (77-54)

The Baruch College Bearcats ran their record to 5-0 at home this season with a 77-54 home win over the Bloodhounds of John Jay College on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats (8-3, 5-0 CUNYAC) started on fire jumping out to a 12-4 lead in the first four minutes, but the Bloodhounds behind a pair of threes from Kris Owens cut the score to 12-10.

The two teams were tied three different times and exchanged leads on numerous occasions for a competitive contest until the last three minutes before halftime. With the Bearcats owning a one-point lead (26-25), they finished the half with a 10-1 run for a 36-26 advantage into the break.

They started the second half with the same momentum by scoring the first 10 points to break open the game to 46-26 with 17:11 left. The lead would grow to as much as 25 points (56-31) before each team emptied their benches.


Bryler Paige scored a career-high 16 points, while Raymond De La Cruz and Edward Roscigno (nine assists) scored 13 points each. Brian McMahon
had nine points, six rebounds and three blocks to help the team stay undefeated in conference play (5-0).

Kris Owens led the visiting Bloodhounds (2-10, 1-5 CUNYAC) with 18 points, nine rebounds and two steals.

Baruch will return to action on Saturday, January 10, with a 4:00 pm CUNYAC contest in the ARC Arena against the Brooklyn College Bulldogs. Prior to the game, the team will host their annual player alumni game.
