Lions defeat Panthers in low scoring contest, 57-40

BRADFORD, Pa. – The Pitt-Bradford men's basketball team dropped its contest with Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe Penn State Behrend on Saturday by a final score of 57-40.

On an afternoon where the Panthers struggled to find the basket, senior Tyler Fantaskey turned in the only double-digit performance for Pitt-Bradford (4-6, 1-2). Fantaskey racked up 12 points to go with six rebounds and two assists on four-of-nine shooting, including 4-of-7 from three.

Fellow senior Lucas Pichette finished 4-of-7 from the field to register eight points and six rebounds.

Penn State Behrend (9-1, 4-0) was able hold the advantage in the turnover column by a margin of 14-11, keeping the ball in its own hands more times than not. When the teams entered the locker room for halftime, the Lions led 32-19.

The second half proved to be much closer as Pitt-Bradford was edged by just four points, 25-21. Inconsistencies in the shooting game hurt the Panthers as they finished the contest shooting just 26.2 percent, including 31.6 percent from behind the arc.

The Lions turned in a 36.2 percent performance and landed 26.3 percent of their shots from three. They were 10-of-15 from the stripe, while Pitt-Bradford senior Keith Burgess connected on the only two free-throw attempts of the game for the Panthers.

Pitt-Bradford returns to the KOA Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 7, with tipoff set for 8 p.m. vs the Hilbert Hawks.
