DANVILLE, Va. -- The Covenant men's basketball team could not keep the momentum going from its victory on Friday at Ferrum as the Scots fell 72-57 at Averett on Saturday in USA South action at the Grant Center.

Covenant drops to 2-9 overall on the season and 1-1 in conference play. Averett, picked to finish second in the USA South, improves to 6-5 on the year and 1-1 in league play.

TJ Cox led Covenant with 12 points, all coming from behind the 3-point line, but the Scots shot just 35 percent in the second half and were outrebounded 45-21. Robby Bell drained three 3-pointers for nine total points whileChris Boyd added eight points. Nate Frierson dished out five assists and grabbed four rebounds.
