Cabrini Stumbles at No. 22 Randolph-Macon

ASHLAND, Va. – The Cabrini men's basketball team faced its fifth Top 25 opponent tonight, as the Cavaliers traveled to Ashland, Va. to face Randolph-Macon College.  

The Blue and White stumbled in its final contest of 2014, falling to the Yellow Jackets 105-92.  The loss drops Cabrini to 5-4 on the season.

Five Cavaliers scored in double figures, led by senior Aaron Walton-Moss, who posted 26 points, seven rebounds and 12 assists.  Fellow senior Vinny Walls added 16 points, including four three pointers.

Freshman Jair Green added 11 points, while junior Sean Mayo added a career high 10 points.

Despite scoring the game's first basket, the Blue and White fell behind early, as R-MC used a 10-1 spurt to build a seven point lead three minutes into the game.  

The Yellow Jackets extended their lead to a game high 43-18 with 6:22 left in the first half before the Cavaliers closed the half on a 20-6 run, cutting R-MC's lead to 47-38 at the half.

The Blue and White continued its comeback as the second half opened, using a 12-2 spurt to take a slim 50-49 lead just under three minutes into the stanza.  Both teams exchanged the lead over the next several minutes before a decisive three minute run decided the game.

Trailing 57-56, R-MC used an 11-2 run to take a 67-59 lead with 12:13 to play.  Mayo's lay-up with 11 minutes to play cut the deficit back to 68-66 before the Yellow Jackets used a 30-10 run to put the game away.

Freshman Tyheim Monroe paired nine points with a career high 10 rebounds, while sophomore Kane McGovern added eight points.   

Connor Sullivan led R-MC (6-2) with 27 points, leading five Yellow Jackets in double figure scoring.

The Cavaliers will return to Colonial States Athletic Conference play on January 3, when they visit Rosemont College (3-5, 1-2 CSAC).  Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
