MATT WALKER AND VALIN WILLIAMS SCORE DOUBLE FIGURES AGAINST BARD

Annadale-on-Hudson, NY- The Men's Basketball team fell to the Bard College Raptors 71-60 earlier tonight. The win improves Bard to 5-4 overall while the Cougars drop to 1-9 overall. 

The Cougars led the first 14 minutes. They wouldn't build a large lead, but the largest spread was seven points. Bard would tied the score at 19, before taking the lead. The Raptors would end the half on a 11-9 run (30-28). In the 2nd half, Bard led the entire way. The Cougars tied the score at 31 with 18:26 left, but Bard regained the lead. The Cougars cut the lead to two points twice in the final five minutes (55-53, and 58-56). Medgar Evers College was down by four points 64-60 but Bard would end the game converting seven of eight free throws.

In the loss, the Cougars were led by Junior Guard Matt Walker with 19 points (7-20 FG-FGA, 2-7 3pt. FG-FGA, and 3-5 FT-FTA). Matt dished out an assist and added two steals. Senior Forward Valin Williams scored 12 points (4-9 FG-FGA and 4-8 FT-FTA). Valin grabbed a game high 12 rebounds (11 defensive). This marked his 5th double-double of the season. He dished out an assist and swiped away six shots.

Bard was led by DeVahnte Mosley with 19 points. Two other student-athletes scored in double figures including the following: Harry Johson (16 points), and Siondueh Burnette (14 points).       

The Cougars will take a break for Finals and the Holiday's and will be freshed and ready, when they return on Saturday January. 3rd, 2015 when they play the Baruch College Bearcats. Game time will be 3:00 pm at Medgar Evers College.
