The Baruch College Bearcats went on a 21-2 run midway through the second half to break open a close contest to defeat the Dolphins from the College of Staten Island, 81-70, on Tuesday night in Staten Island, New York.

The visiting Bearcats shot 60 percent (15-for-25) in the second half and dominated the boards the entire game with a resounding 47-28 rebounding advantage en route to improving to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the CUNYAC.


Granville Gittens, fresh off of being named the CUNYAC Player of the Week, helped power the Bearcats with 25 points and 13 rebounds.

Ryan Markoescored a career-high 17 points, which included a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line.
Chimaechi Ekekeugbor, who was named the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week for the fourth time, totaled 16 points, six rebounds and two steals.

Bryler Paigescored eight points off the bench, while Raymond De La Cruzhad nine defensive rebounds.

The Dolphins were limited to 36 percent shooting (23-for-64). Will Fonseca led their team with 19 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and three blocked shots.
 
The men's basketball team will play their final game before the final exam/holiday break on Friday, December 12, with a 7:30 pm CUNYAC home contest in the ARC Arena against the defending conference champions the Cardinals of York College.
