WHITEWATER, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team fell to third-ranked UW-Whitewater, 76-60, on Saturday in Kachel Gym.
Boston Johnson led the Pioneers with 19 points, while Jake Manning and Trevor Wittwer added 10 points apiece.
A tough first half of shooting for the Pioneers put them down 39-28 at the half. UW-Platteville shot just 37.5 percent, including 1-of-9 from beyond the arc.
Seven minutes into the second half, UWW pushed its lead to 19 points, 54-35, with a 12-3 run.
A pair of three-pointers by Johnson helped the Pioneers trim UWW's advantage to 11 points, 65-54, with 6:17 left to play.
UWW's Xzavier Moananu scored eight of the game's next 12 points to extend the Warhawks lead back to 19 points, 75-56, with 1:46 left on the clock.
Whitewater controlled the paint, having a 15-0 edge on second chance points and 38-24 points in the paint advantage. UWW also out rebounded the Pioneers 44-27.
The Pioneers will look to bounce back on Wednesday when they host UW-Oshkosh at 7 p.m.
