PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team had 13 different players score in the Pioneers' 73-42 thumping of Principia on Bo Ryan Court on Friday.
Sophomore Cory Vaassen led the Pioneers with 17 points and six rebounds, while Trevor Wittweradded nine points off the bench, making 3-4 from beyond the arc.
Principia played with the Pioneers early, and took its only lead of the game, 12-11, at the 14-minute mark. UW-Platteville finally found its rhythm and went on a seven-minute 16-2 run, taking a 27-14 lead. The Pioneers took a 25-point lead into the locker room, 44-19. UW-Platteville shot over 53 percent from the floor and totaled a 16-0 points off turnover advantage in the first half.
The Pioneers never allowed their lead to get less than 20 points and led by as many as 32 points in the second half.
UW-Platteville will have a quick turnaround as the Pioneers host Mount Mercy on Saturday at 7 p.m.
