New York, NY --- Led by senior center Valon Djombalic's team-high 19 points, the Brooklyn College Men's Basketball team extended its winning streak to eight straight with an 84-74 triumph over the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice on Saturday afternoon in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action at the Doghouse on the campus of John Jay.

Djombalic also added seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals to his stat line as BC improves to 8-1 overall on the season and 2-0 in CUNYAC play. John Jay drops to 1-6 overall on the year and 0-2 in conference play.

Along with Djombalic, senior Jai Kellman (11 points) and juniors Jamel Gist (11 points) and Lorenzo Williams (10 points) were also in double figure scoring for the Bulldogs. Senior Steven Diaz and sophomore Harry Hazan made contributions off the bench finishing with nine and eight points, respectively.  Junior Egzon Gjonbalaj pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, to go with five points, four assists and four blocks.

John Jay's Korede Griffith led all scorers with 22 points, to go with five steals, while Darell Robinson and Kendal Jordan each finished with 14 points apiece. Jordan also grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds to post a double-double.

The game saw four ties and one lead change early on. The second half would see John Jay attempt to chip away at its deficit and would eventually get to within five, 56-51, following a three-pointer from Robinson with 14:36 remaining in the game.

That's as close as the home team would get, as Brooklyn would rebuild its lead back to double figures and eventually take its largest lead of the game at, 74-57, seven minutes left on the clock. BC used an 18-6 run over a 7:36 minute span to take the 17-point advantage.

John Jay would again cut its deficit to single digits; however, the Bulldogs would hold off the Bloodhounds come-back attempt with the clock in their favor, as Brooklyn would go on to take the 10-point win, 84-74.

BC has reached the 80-point plateau in eight of their nine games so far this season and is currently averaging a CUNYAC-best 87.8 points-per-game on the year. The Bulldogs are currently ranked 10th in all of NCAA Division III (408 teams) in scoring offense (games played through November 30th).

Brooklyn will look to continue its solid play away from home this season, where BC currently holds a 5-1 record in true road games on the year, as the Bulldogs will travel to conference and borough rival Medgar Evers College on December 9th. The game is scheduled for 8:00 pm. If you can't make it to the game, you can listen online as WBCR (Brooklyn College Radio) will be on hand to call all of the action.
