HENRIETTA, NY - Roberts Wesleyan College used its hot shooting from behind the arc to power past the University of Rochester men's basketball team 80-63 in the semifinals of the Wendy's College Classic on Friday night at RIT.

The Redhawks (3-2) shot a combined 54% (13-24) from long range, while the Yellowjackets (4-3) struggled to find their shooting touch, ending the contest with a 39% shooting percentage.

This is the second straight season that Roberts Wesleyan eliminated Rochester in the semifinal game.  In 2013, RWC topped UR 62-60 at Roberts' Voller Gymnasium, relegating the Yellowjackets to the 3rd place game.

Roberts Wesleyan started off the game shooting the ball well and kept it going all night.  The Redhawks drained nine of 15 shots to open the first half.  That stretch included a 6-10 start from behind the arc helping build a 25-12 lead.  Over the same opening 13 minutes, UR was shooting just 28%, making 5-18 attempts.

At the break, Roberts would build its lead to 20 when Jamaal Carter made a driving layup as the 1st half buzzer sounded, giving the Redhawks a 40-20 lead. Roberts Wesleyan would end the final six minutes of the half on a 15-2 run to construct its lead.

UR's Tyler Seidman sank two treys in the half and led the Yellowjackets with eight points.  Mack Montague added six.  RWC's Tyrel Dixon led all scorers in the first half with 13 points while Carter ended with 10 over the first 20 minutes.

In the second half, Roberts opened on a 20-12 run to build its lead to the games biggest at 28, leading 60-32.

The Yellowjackets made a game of it though, rattling off a 23-5 spurt to close to within 11 with 4:30 left on the clock.  Sophomores Sam Borst-Smith and Mack Montague combined for 15 of UR's points in the run, which saw UR shoot 9-12 from the floor.

Overall, Rochester was led by Borst-Smith who finished with 16 points and four rebounds.  Seidman added 14 points and five assists while Montague finished with 11 points.

The Redhawks were paced by four players in double-figures led by Dixon's game high 18 points.  Marcus Gooding hit 5-of-8 shots from three and scored 17 points while Carter ended with 15.  Isaac Medeiros chipped in 13 points and added eight rebounds.

Roberts Wesleyan moves on to its second straight Wendy's Classic final and will face the winner of the St. John Fisher/Geneseo second semifinal.  The loser plays Rochester in Saturday's 3rd place game at 3 pm at RIT.
