DEFIANCE, OHIO – Junior forward Jarod Schrock (Logansport, Ind.) just missed his second double-double of the young 2014-15 season Wednesday, Dec. 3, to help lead Manchester University in its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener.

Schrock posted team highs of 17 points and eight rebounds as part of an 89-50 loss at the hands of host Defiance College. Schrock's third double-figure scoring game of the season made him one of two Spartans to hit double digits, as junior guard Brady Dolezal (Tipton, Ind.) added 11 points for the 18th double-figure total in his last 19 games played.

Defiance (3-2 overall, 1-0 HCAC), trailing 14-10 at the 12:12 mark of the first half, took off on a 20-5 run and continued to build their advantage throughout the evening. The Yellowjackets drained 21 three-point baskets as part of an evening in which they hit better than 56 percent from the field and beyond the arc.

MU continues conference action with a trip to Earlham College Saturday, Dec. 6. Tipoff is 4 p.m. inside EC's Athletic and Wellness Center.

NOTES: Schrock recorded his 11th career double-figure scoring contest … Other strong numbers came from sophomore guard Blake Brouwer (Elkhart, Ind.)
