OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Six Cavaliers tallied at least eight points, as the No. 20 Cabrini men's basketball team scored a 90-65 victory over Purchase College at the Hoopsville National Invitational Classic. With the win, the Blue and White improves to 2-1 on the season.
Junior Ace Henry led the Cavaliers with a career high 18 points, including five three pointers. Senior Aaron Walton-Moss nearly recorded his second triple double in as many games, recording 17 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.
Freshman Jair Green notched his first career double double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, including a pair of highlight dunks. Fellow rookie Ivan Robinson tallied 12 points and three steals.
Senior Howard Blake tallied 10 points, while freshman Tyheim Monroe added eight.
The Cavaliers shot nearly 51% from the field in the game, including a blistering 58% from the floor in the second half. The blue and White also connected on a season high 12 three pointers.
On the defensive side of the floor, Cabrini held Purchase to just 30.5% shooting and 2-16 from three point range.
Outside of a span of 18 seconds in the game's opening minutes, the Cavaliers were in control from the opening tip. Cabrini took advantage of Purchase's poor shooting to build a 10 points lead just 7:23 into the action.
The Blue and White showed no let-up, as Purchase never got within 14 points. A Robinson crossover and jumper sent Cabrini into the halftime break with a 42-25 lead.
The Cavaliers will return to action tomorrow afternoon, as they face No. 12 Worcester Polytechnic Institute on the classic's third and final day. Game time is slated for 3:00 p.m.
The Engineers improved to 3-0 with today's 81-79 overtime win over the University of Chicago.
