BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball team earned their second consecutive victory at home by defeating Bard College, 65-54, in non-conference action, on Saturday afternoon. The Lightning are now 3-1 to start the season, while the Raptors fall to 2-2.

Junior forward Jerrome Jones (Bronx, N.Y./Mount Vernon) helped spark the Lightning by scoring a game-high 20 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

After the Lightning gave up the first basket to start the second half, Jones and junior forward Chaun Miller (Brooklyn, N.Y./Eleanor Roosevelt) combined to score the game's next ten points in just over three minutes to give Lehman a commanding 39-27 lead.

Later in the half, Bard was able to shrink the deficit to 41-32, but a jumper from senior guard Jonathan Greenfield (Hartford, Conn/Windsor) put the home team back up by double digits with 12:59 remaining in regulation.

After Lehman led by as many as 17 points, The Raptors chipped away and cut the Lightning's lead to nine with 1:51 left to play. Bard kept intentionally fouling Lehman and the home team responded as Greenfield successfully hit four consecutive free throws on back-to-back possessions to give the Lightning a more comfortable lead, 63-50, with just over a minute left.  The Lightning went on to win their third game of the season, 65-54.

Greenfield scored 14 points and forced two steals, while sophomore forward Driton Hasangjekaj (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton) tallied 10 points and grabbed six rebounds. Junior guard Olando Minott (Bronx, N.Y./Samuel Gompers) forced four steals, freshman guard John Brens (Washington Heights, N.Y./Riverside Christian Academy) had three, and classmate Andrew Utate (Washington Heights, N.Y./Mount Saint Michael Academy) forced two of his own.

The Lightning will open the CUNY Athletic Conference portion of their schedule on Tuesday, with a home game against John Jay, at 7:00 p.m.
