Five Albright Players Reach Double Figures in Loss to Muhlenberg

GLENSIDE, Pa. -- Five Albright players reached double figures in scoring, but Malique Killing hit a three-pointer with 1:17 remaining in regulation and Muhlenberg held off the Lions 80-77 in the Middle Atlantic Conference-Centennial Challenge on Saturday at Arcadia University.

Evan Ward and Omari Ringgold led Albright with 14 points each, while Josh Marquez and Evan Dunn scored 12 points and DeJuan Smith scored 11 points. Ward finished with a double-double as he added 12 rebounds.

Albright took a 76-75 lead when Dunn scored on a layup with 1:39 to play in the game, but Killing answered with a three-pointer giving the Mules a 78-76 lead with 1:17 remaining in the contest.

Marquez cut the lead to 78-77 by making one of two free throws with 31 seconds to play in the game.

Killing made one of two free throw attempts with 22 seconds remaining to increase the lead to 79-77 and the Lions missed a layup on their next trip down the floor.

After a foul, Brandon LaRose made one free throw that increased the lead to 80-77 with two seconds left to play.

A desperation three-point attempt by Albright was off the mark at the buzzer.

Albright trailed by 45-33 at the intermission, but shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half to eventually regain the lead.

The Lions will continue play in the MAC-Centennial Challenge as they will meet Ursinus at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
