WELLESLEY, Mass. – Senior captain Matt Langadas (Sebago, Maine) poured in a game-high 27 points as the Nichols College men's basketball team rolled to a 99-63 win over Salve Regina University Sunday evening in non-conference action at the Babson Invitational.

Langadas added five rebounds, three steals and two assists while junior captain Irving Eggleston (East Lyme, Conn.) filled the stat sheet with 25 points, six rebounds and two assists. Both shot 7-of-13 from the floor and went a combined 9-of-17 from behind the arc (53 percent). Senior Marlon Bennett (Stratford, Conn.) canned six triples and finished with 18 off the bench to give first-year head coach Tom Glynn his first collegiate victory.

Nichols connected on 45 percent of its field goals (29-of-64) and also drained 18 three-pointers. Defensively, the Bison held the Seahawks to 31 percent shooting and forced 19 turnovers which led to 24 points.

Freshman Bryce Boggs (Hyde Park, Mass.) paced the Seahawks with 14 points while graduate student Isiah Pringle (Queens, N.Y.) chipped in with 10 off the bench for head coach Sean Foster.

The Bison took a 25-point lead into the locker room at halftime (48-23) behind 21 points from Langadas and 14 from Eggleston. Senior Erik MacKinnon (South Easton, Mass.) led Salve Regina with eight points.

Five points from Langadas to open the second half pushed the lead to 30. Bennett hit a three with 7:07 to go that gave Nichols its largest lead of the contest at 81-31 (50 points).

The 36-point win was the largest by either side in this series – which dates back to 1982 – since the Seahawks thumped the Bison 91-50 in Newport on February 16, 2000. The Bison have won the last three meetings between the two schools.

Nichols (1-1) heads to Willimantic, Conn. on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. meeting with the Warriors of Eastern Connecticut State. Salve Regina (0-2) hosts Wheaton (MA) Thursday at 7 p.m.
