The Hope College men's basketball team lost 78-53 to Calvin College in the championship game of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament on Saturday.
The Flying Dutchmen dropped to 20-7 on the season after their 12-game win streak was ended. They will wait until Monday to see if they receive an at-large berth to the NCAA Division III national tournament.
The NCAA pairings are announced Monday at 12:30 p.m. on ncaa.com. The show will be aired during the Hoops Club luncheon at the Maas Center.
"I'm not ready to be done, I'll tell you that," Hope coach Matt Neil said. "Having a second seed in the region might mean something, I don't know."
Calvin (22-5) claimed the league's automatic NCAA berth. Hope still leads the all-time series 98-90.
Senior center Nate VanArendonk of Grand Haven (Grand Haven HS) and sophomore guard Sam Otto of Wheaton, Ill. (Wheaton North HS), topped the Flying Dutchmen in scoring with 10 points.
VanArendonk also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
Calvin overcame an early 13-2 deficit five minutes into the first half to lead 29-24 at halftime. The Knights outscored Hope 49-29 during the second half.
"We had four stops (in that early run) that resulted in turnovers or missed shots," Neil said. "It was 13-2 and I think it could have been like 19-2. It's just unfortunate."
