GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy was knocked out of the 2014 CSAC Men's Basketball Tournament with a 95-78 defeat to Neumann in a semifinal contest Tuesday night at the Griffin Complex.

The Griffins, who only trailed by five at halftime, had a bad start to the second half, as the Knights opened the stanza on a 14-2 run and did not look back.

Junior guard Brian Hennessey led GM with 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting. He would hit four of the team's seven three-pointers. Freshman Cedric Elleby notched his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Reggie Coleman recorded a double-double of his own, scoring a game-high 22 points and dishing out 10 assists. Kevin Greene added 18 points off the bench while Mark Blount (17 points/five blocks) and Lamon Church (16 points/15 rebounds) also hit for double figures. Neumann will travel to top-seeded Cabrini, who were winners over Rosemont in the other semifinal, on Friday to decide the CSAC Championship.

The first half saw nine lead changes and five ties as the largest lead for either team was only six points. Two free throws from sophomore Julian Hyden capped a 7-0 run to give the Griffins a 26-20 lead with 6:46 in the period. Neumann would close the half on a 6-0 spurt to take a 38-33 edge at the break.

Elleby's bucket on their first possession of the second would be the only field goal for Gwynedd over the next five-plus minutes as Neumann, would shoot over 60% (22-of-34) in the frame.

A three from Hennessey broke the scoring drought but the Griffins were in a 14-point deficit. Two more free throws from Hyden pulled GM within 12 (58-46) with 11 minutes to go. Neumann's Rich Whitten would take the air out of the Griffin sails with a big three-pointer on their next possession to restore a 15-point advantage.

The Griffins shot a season-high 31 three-point attempts along with 77 shot attempts in general, and also pulled down a season-best 21 offensive rebounds.  Overall, GM was 28-of-77 (36.4%) from the floor.

Hyden would finish with 10 points while junior Seth Heinicke added 16.

Gwynedd Mercy finishes the 2013-14 season at 19-7.
