Eagle Men's Basketball Upends LC 79-60
LYNCHBURG, VA – A big second half helped the visiting Bridgewater College men's basketball team post a 79-60 victory Saturday over Lynchburg College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest. The four Hornet seniors were honored in a pre-game ceremony.
LC opened an 8-2 lead after six quick points from senior Gary Boone II before BC rallied. The Eagles used a 20-6 run to go ahead 22-14 midway through the half, and also held an eight-point edge (41-33) into intermission.
Lynchburg trimmed the lead to only two at 47-45 after a three-pointer from senior Dylan Hall at the 14:52 mark. Bridgewater extended the advantage to seven, but the Hornets closed to 54-51 after a three-pointer from Daniel Rowe. An Eagle 13-0 run put the game out of reach.
Boone tied for a game-high 16 points and added six rebounds. Alex Graves had 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Manny Hernandez also had 10 points.
Daniel McClain had 16 points for Bridgewater (12-12/8-8 ODAC), hitting 7-of-9 from the floor. Kenneth Waugh posted 14 points, and Ed Reddick tallied 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Hornets (17-8/10-6 ODAC) will receive a first-round bye in the ODAC Tournament, and will compete next Friday at 3 p.m. in Salem, VA against the winner of the #5/#12 seeded game.
