CASTINE, Maine -- Thomas College knocked off Maine Maritime 70-54 in a North Atlantic Conference men's basketball game Wednesday. The Terriers improved to 15-9 overall, 12-5 NAC, while the Mariners fell to 2-22, 1-16.
Kyle Boucher recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds for Maine Maritime. Shep Carter also netted 13 and Tyler Chiasson added 10.
Adam Carlsen came off the bench to pace Thomas with a game-high 20 points on 6 of 12 shooting from the field. Levi Barnes added 17 points and Garen Manzo 15. Mike Akanji grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.
After Carter evened the game for the second time, 4-4 with 18:21 left in the opening half, Thomas College went on an 11-4 run to lead 15-6 five minutes later. Barnes led the Terriers' run with five points.
Tyler Gilson got the Mariners as close as seven, 15-8, before Manzon netted seven in a 12-2 run to put Thomas ahead 37-10 with five minutes left before the break. Ryan Backus' layup for MMA made it 39-20 at the break.
Thomas maintained a double-digit lead the entire second half and led by as many as 26, 70-44, after a jumper by Carlsen with six minutes left in the game. The Mariners got within 16 twice in the second half. The first after a pair of Chiasson free throws to begin the half and when David Breunig sank a pair with 1:49 left in the game.
The Mariners end their season Saturday, 3 p.m., at Maine-Farmington.
