Stong 2nd Half Seals Senior Day Win for No. 6 Cavaliers

More news about: Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa. – Junior Vinny Walls and senior Jon Miller combined for 35 second half points as the No. 6 Cabrini men's basketball team scored an 86-73 Senior Night win over Keystone College.  The victory improved the Cavaliers to 22-1 on the season and 16-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

Prior to tonight's game, the Blue and White celebrated the careers of its five seniors, Corey Frizzera, A.J. Picard, Miller, Fran Rafferty and Vernon Robinson.  Capturing its 102nd career victory tonight, this is among the most successful classes in program history, appearing in three NCAA Sweet 16's, two NCAA Elite Eights and an appearance in the 2012 NCAA Championship game.

The Cavaliers netted the game's first eight points before the Giants rallied to ties the score at 8-8 five minutes into the action.  Cabrini remained poised to pull away, but Keystone always had an answer.  The Giants shot 42.4% from the floor and connected on six three pointers, many coming at opportune times.

Keystone's final three pointer of the half came with just 11 seconds remaining in the half, giving the Giants a 34-31 halftime lead.  Cabrini shot just 38% from the floor before the break and posted 12 turnovers, leading to 14 Keystone points.

Head Coach Marcus Kahn refocused the club during the break and put the game on the shoulders of his seniors and they responded after the break.

Keystone's lead grew to 44-35 three minutes into the half but Cabrini responded with a 14-2 run over the next three plus minutes, including nine points from Walls, giving Cabrini a 49-46 lead.  Minutes later, Miller and Walls combined to score 11 points during a 12-0 Blue and White spurt that extended the lead to 71-55 with 8:16 to play.

Walls finished the night with 27 points to go with four rebounds, four assist and three steaqls.  Miller posted his fourth double-double of the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass.  Rafferty finished the night with 19 points and six boards, while freshman Brennan McCann tallied 11 points.

Junior Duncan Lunsford led four Giants (11-14, 8-10 CSAC) in double figures with 18 points and eight rebounds.  Fellow junior Miles Dargan added 16 points, including four three pointers.

The Cavaliers have little time to recover as they host Immaculata tomorrow night at 6:30.  Cabrini will close the regular season as it looks to exact some revenge after the Mighty Macs handed the Blue and White its only home loss in its last 66 games in Nerney Field House.
