GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior guard Connor Fedge scored a game-high 19 points while junior guard Andy Drescher added 16 points off the bench to lead the Knights to a 78-61 victory over Potsdam in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's basketball, Friday night.

The Knights (15-3, 9-2 SUNYAC) started the game on a 14-0 run and never looked back, leading by as many as 17 points in the first half en route to a 38-23 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play. Defensively, Geneseo limited the Bears to 8-of-23 shooting while causing 13 turnovers to control play in the opening period.

"I tought we  were exceptionally good in the first half holding them to 23 points on 35 percent shooting," said head coach Steve Minton. "(Senior forward) Jordan Jones came off the bench and really revved up our defense and we got some steals because of the pressure he brought. Fourteen of their 22 total turnovers were steals, which led to some easy baskets in transition. Drescher also did a good job shooting from the outside which opened things up for us to have opportunities to score on the inside as well."

In the second half, Potsdam would close to within 11 points, 52-41, with 11:51 remaining, but the Knights would stay in control, building the lead back up to as much as a 21 points down the stretch.

Junior forward Gordon Lyons would finish the night with 12 points as 10 total Knights would tally at least one basket in the victory. Genese, which entered the week ranked 10th in field goal percentage, finished the evening shooting 57.4 percent from the field.

Potsdam's Rob Duquette finished the game with 16 points  to lead the Bears (3-16, 1-11 SUNYAC).

Geneseo returns to action on Saturday, hosting Plattsburgh in a 4:00 p.m. matinee looking to avenge a 97-85 road loss to the Cardinals on Jan. 10
