ONEONTA, NY—Buffalo State (11-10/7-7) hit 10 3-pointers, but could not complete a furious second-half rally and dropped an 83-82 decision at Oneonta (11-11/8-7) in a SUNYAC game today at Dewar Arena.

Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) led the Bengals with 17 points and eight rebounds, going 8 of 11 from the field. Roderick Epps (Uniondale/Uniondale) netted 15 points, while Legree Kirkland (New York/Frederick Douglas VII) and Chris Boyd (Buffalo/East) added 12 points apiece.

The Red Dragons ended the first half with a 7-0 run to take a 33-29 edge into halftime.  Oneonta pushed its lead to as many as 15 at 63-48 with 10:22 remaining.  The Bengals still trailed by 10 with just over four minutes left, but Buffalo State hit four 3-pointers, including three by Boyd, and then added a layup with six seconds left to cut the deficit to 81-79.  The Bengals fouled immediately, but the Red Dragons made both free throws to seal the win.  Buffalo State hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to complete the scoring, but it was not enough.

Oneonta was an efficient 55-percent shooting from the field, and outscored Buffalo State 19-10 at the free throw line.  The Bengals shot 48-percent from the field, including 56-percent (10 of 18) from long range.

Buffalo State will next host nationally-ranked Brockport on Friday at 8 p.m.
