Baruch Wins Battle of Lexington, Defeat Lehman (78-63)

The men's basketball team recorded a 78-63 Battle of Lexington victory against Lehman College on Thursday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats (12-11, 8-6 CUNYAC) shot 51.7 percent (30-for-58) in the game and ended the first half with a 29-10 run to build a comfortable 46-29 halftime advantage.

The Lightning (10-11, 5-8) did manage on three occasions to cut the score to 10 points during the second half, but the Bearcats never allowed the game to get any closer to also end a two-game losing streak in the Battle of Lexington.

Raymond De La Cruz scored all 15 of his points in the first half and Granville Gittens recorded 20 points and seven rebounds for the quality win on a night with 1,500 fans in the stand.

Joshua Vital scored 11 points off the bench and Edward Roscigno totaled five assists in the winning effort.

Jerrome Jones finished with a near double-double for the Lightning with 24 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots in 39 minutes.

Prior to the game, the team honored seniors Matt Feldman, Matas Rascius, Ryan Kane and Joshua Vital.  

The men's basketball team will return to action on Tuesday, February 11, with an 8:00 pm contest at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, New York.
