HOBOKEN, NJ – The Williams men's basketball team defeated the Stevens Ducks (14-6) 83-68 this evening. Down one at the half, the Ephs (17-3) went on a three-minute 15-0 run starting at the 13:19 mark of the second half to take control of the game.

With neither team able to take a decisive lead in the first half, the Ducks went into the locker rooms with the 33-32 lead following a jumper from Evan Kilmchak.  Out of the break, the two teams continued to trade hoops for the start of the second stanza. Mike Greenman opened the half for the Ephs with a 3-ball off of a pretty pass from Michael Mayer, but Philip DeSeignora responded with one of his own for the Ducks.

After trading buckets for several minutes, the Ephs stole the game's momentum as they started their 15-0 run that consisted of four 3-balls and a three-point play. Down 42-41, Greenman hit another long ball for the Ephs just under seven minutes into the second half. Duncan Robinson then finished in the paint off of a nice pass from Mayer. Robinson was fouled on the play and converted the three-point opportunity. Greenman continued his contributions from behind the arc as he added yet another 3-pointer. While the Ducks tried to get back some offensive fire, the Ephs' defense was suffocating as well. Daniel Wohl stole the ball on the next Stevens possession. Ryan Kilcullen nailed a 3-ball of his own off of an assist from John Weinheimer to give the Ephs the double-digit lead at 53-42. Wohl added another three for the Ephs to cap the run at the 10:25 mark.

Stevens looked to get back in the game and finally ended its scoring drought with a dunk from Peter Sabatino, but Wohl immediately followed with a three-point play to steal back any momentum the dunk may have given the Ducks. The Ducks were able to cut the Eph lead back to single digits as they went on a 7-0 run. Andrew Meszaros finished inside and Sabatino went 1-for-2 from the charity stripe before Matt Skrelja hit a jumper. Skrelja added a pair of free throws to cut the Eph lead to 59-51, but the eight-point deficit was the closest the Ducks would get for the rest of the game after Mayer finished in the paint to end the run.

Leading the way tonight for the Ephs was Robinson with 22 points.  He also pulled down ten rebounds in his double-double performance. Mayer added 18, Greenman 17, and Daniel Aronowitz ten for the Ephs, who were 50.0% from the field.

DeSeignora led for the Ducks with 20, and Skrelja added 19. Meszaros recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Ducks, who were just 37.5% from the field.

The Ephs return home to take on Bates on Friday.  Game time is set for 8:00 PM.
