Guard Alex Eidson tied a DeVos Fieldhouse-record with six 3-pointers and scored a career-high 27 points as the Hope College men's basketball team defeated Kalamazoo College 76-61 on Monday.

Coach Matt Neil's Flying Dutchmen improve to 13-6 overall and 7-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. Hope pulled even with idle Calvin College atop the MIAA standings and will host Calvin on Wednesday.

Eidson went 64.3 percent from the field (9-of-14), including 85.7 percent from 3-point range (6-of-7). The sophomore from Grand Haven tied the DeVos Fieldhouse record for 3-pointers in a single game held by Stephen Cramer (2007 vs. Tri-State/Trine), Jesse Reimink (2007 vs. Capital, Ohio) and Derek VanSolkema (2008 vs. Olivet).

Eidson surpassed his previous career high of 26 points against Aurora (Ill.) from last season and his previous season high of 25 against Alma on Jan. 22.

Hope hit 10 3-pointers for the second consecutive home game, matching its season-high against Adrian on Jan. 29.

Junior guard Corey McMahon of Glenview, Ill. (Glenbrook South HS) buried three 3-pointers and finished with nine points off the bench.

Sophomore forward Brock Benson of Willowbrook, Ill. (Hinsdale South HS) scored 16 points off the bench. He shot 70 percent from the field (7-of-10).
