BUFFALO, NY—Daniel Ross (Syracuse/Virginia Intermont) scored 27 points and completed an acrobatic 3-point play with 0.6 seconds remaining to lift visiting Oswego (12-6/6-5) to a 72-70 victory over Buffalo State (9-9/5-6) in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Sports Arena.

Roderick Epps (Uniondale/Uniondale) netted 21 points, including 17 in the first half, to lead Buffalo State.  Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) added 20 points to go with six rebounds, three blocks and four steals, and Chris Thompson (Far Rockaway/Channel View) had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Epps and Mitchell combined to score 30 first-half points and the Bengals took a 39-36 lead into the intermission.  Oswego took its first lead since 11-9 at 52-50 with just over nine minutes remaining to set up a back and forth finish.  The lead would change 10 more times in the final nine minutes and neither team would ever lead by more than three.

The Bengals took a 70-67 lead with 45 seconds remaining, before Ross cut the deficit to one with 30 ticks left, following his own 3-point miss for a reverse tip-in.  At the other end, the Bengals missed a pair of free throws, setting up Oswego's final possession with 22 seconds remaining and no timeouts.  Ross kept the ball in his hands the entire time.  He drove from the right side and was fouled and hit a desperation shot as he fell to the ground with less than one second remaining.  Ross completed the 3-point play and the Bengals could not complete the "hail mary" attempt at the buzzer.

Buffalo State shot 55-percent from the field for the game, but was just 7 of 23 (30-percent) from the free throw line.  Oswego shot 49-percent from the field, but hit 18 of 27 (67-percent) from the charity stripe for the difference in the game.

Buffalo State will host Cortland for another pivotal SUNYAC game tomorrow at 4 p.m.
