UW-La Crosse Rallies for Win over UW-Oshkosh

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's basketball team earned a 66-65 victory over UW-Oshkosh Wednesday night in Mitchell Hall.  The Eagles improve to 12-7 overall and 6-4 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Titans fall to 8-10 overall and 3-6 in the conference.  UW-L earned its seventh straight win over UW-Oshkosh. 

The Titans never trailed in the first half. UW-Oshkosh led 25-17 with 6:42 remaining in the first half when it went on a 13-5 run to take its largest lead of the game at 38-22. The Titans led 38-24 at halftime.

UW-L opened the second half on a 11-2 run to cut the lead to 40-35 with 16:12 remaining.  UW-Oshkosh led 60-53 with 4:29 left after a Kyle Bolger three-pointer.  The Titans led 62-56 with 3:13 remaining when the Eagles scored six straight points to force the first tie of the game at 62-62 with 1:42 left.  Lucas Collom scored four points in the run and Connor De Bruin tied the contest with a jumper. 

Alex Olson gave UW-Oshkosh a two-point lead at 64-62 with 1:11 remaining.  Calahan Skogman tied the game for UW-L with a layup with :51 left.  Olson was fouled with :19 remaining and hit one-of-two at the free throw line to give the Titans a 65-64 advantage.  Skogman drove the length of the court after the missed second free throw and was fouled with :06 left.  He converted both free throws for a 66-65 lead.  Jade Royston's layup was missed :01 remaining. 

UW-L shot 44.6% from the field, including 32.0% (eight-of-25) from three-point range, and 88.9% (eight-of-nine) at the free throw line.  The Eagles shot 53.6% (15-of-28) from the field in the second half.

Collom had a career-high 22 points for UW-L while also finishing with a game-high nine rebounds.  Skogman had 20 points and six rebounds while De Bruin had nine points, eight rebounds and four assists. 

UW-Oshkosh shot 42.6% from the field, including 45.0% (nine-of-20) from three-point range, and 83.3% (10-of-12) at the line.

Olson and Bolger led the Titans with 18 points each.  Olson finished with eight rebounds and a game-high three steals.  Royston had 11 points and a game-high seven assists while Max Schebel finished with 10 points.
