BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (8-8/4-5) outscored Potsdam (2-14/0-9) 16-5 over the final five-plus minutes to pull out a 68-56 home victory in a SUNYAC contest this afternoon at the Sports Arena.

Legree Kirkland (New York/Frederick Douglas VII) paced the Bengals with his first double-double and season bests 21 points and 11 rebounds.  Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) and Roderick Epps (Uniondale/Uniondale) scored 11 points each.  Chris Thompson (Far Rockaway/Channel View) had seven points and nine rebounds.

Potsdam led by as many as seven in a low scoring first half and took a 30-26 lead into the intermission.  The Bears clung to the lead for much of the second half, but Buffalo State finally took a lead it would not relinquish with 4:19 remaining.

Both teams shot just 39-percent from the field.  The Bengals forced 18 Potsdam turnovers, while committing just 11, and outscored the Bears, 44-28, in the paint.

Buffalo State will look for a second-consecutive victory when it hosts Fredonia on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
