NEW YORK, N.Y. – Junior guard Sandy Burgos (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee) poured in 35 points and the William Paterson men's basketball team (13-3) cruised past host John Jay (6-10), 91-71, Jan. 20.
Senior guard Javae King-Gilchrist (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) contributed 17 tallies, seven rebounds and a game-best eight assists, while junior guard Jaques Conceicao (Massama-Lisboa, Portugal/Francais Charle Lepierre) finished with 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. Freshman guard Zach Frick (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) chipped in 10 tallies.
The Pioneers used 51.9 (14-27) percent shooting to jump out to a 46-27 halftime lead, and were ahead by as many as 25 (52-27, 16:16) during the second period. WP finished 24-for-52 (.462) from the field and 36-for-44 (.818) from the free-throw line.
Korede Griffith led the Bloodhounds with 15 points, eight rebounds and seven steals.
William Paterson will host The College of New Jersey Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 8:00 p.m.
