LeTourneau University sophomore Ladaria Brown made seven 3-pointers in a 77-67 loss to the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor on Saturday afternoon in Solheim Arena.

The YellowJackets (2-8, 1-6 ASC) were led by the Henderson, Texas native, who scored a season-high 28 points in the defeat to the 2013 NCAA Division III runner-up. Brown was joined in double figures by senior Justin Jones, who scored 15 points.

Brown joins Josh Ferrell of Ozarks as the only two players in 2013-14 to hit seven 3 pointers in a game within the American Southwest Conference.

The Crusaders (6-4, 4-3 ASC) shot 50.9% from the field as James Allen scored a team-high 20 points and Jerard Graham added 18 in the win for UMHB.

The contest went back and forth for the opening 6:30 as the two teams were tied at 9 with 13:30 to play before UMHB went on a game-deciding 13-3 run for a 22-12 lead. Seven of the 13 points came from Graham, who made a pair of 3-point plays to lead the Cru.

A 12-2 run to end the first half by the visitors blew the contest open as UMHB went into the halftime break with a 45-26 lead. The Belton, Texas-based institution shot 66.7% from the field in the first 20 minutes. Plus, they outscored LeTourneau by a 16-8 margin on points in the paint and a 19-4 in points off turnovers.

In the second half, the visitors stretched the margin to as much as 30 but Brown led the YellowJackets back. Trailing 69-39, LeTourneau closed out the game with a 28-8 run as Brown scored 17 of the points on the strength of five 3 pointers to close the gap.

LeTourneau will continue its four-game homestand on Thursday, Jan. 9 when they host the University of Texas-Dallas in Solheim Arena at 7:30 p.m.
