BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball team fell to York College, 84-76, in a CUNY Athletic Conference contest held at the APEX on Saturday afternoon. The game took place as Lehman welcomed back former players, coaches, and administrators during Homecoming 2014.

Sophomore forward Jerrome Jones (Bronx, N.Y./Mt. Vernon) was named the Ed Kramer Most Valuable Player for Lehman College during Homecoming. He recorded a double-double, with 27 points and 16 rebounds.

Lehman (9-7, 4-4 CUNYAC) controlled the first half of the game, but the first place Cardinals (10-5, 7-1 CUNYAC) managed to push forward in the game's final ten minutes of play to claim the win.

The Lightning started slowly out of the gate, but went on a 14-0 run midway through the first half. Lehman's defense forced York to miss seven consecutive shots during that stretch, as Jones and senior guard Kelvin Gil (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) each had six points during that run.

The teams traded baskets for the remainder of the half, and Lehman held a slim, 40-38 lead at intermission.

Jones' shooting surge continued into the second half as he nailed a basket from downtown to put Lehman up, 44-40, just 46 seconds in. After the Cardinals cut the Lightning's lead to one, senior guard Stanley Stephens (New York, N.Y./Manhattan Center) slammed home a dunk to increase Lehman's lead to 46-43, with 17:14 remaining in regulation.

Shortly after that point, York took over the momentum of the game by exploding for a 10-0 run in a span of 2:40 to take the lead, 64-54, and put the game out of reach for Lehman. The visitors hung on to win the game, 84-76.

On the afternoon, junior Jonathan Greenfield (Hartford, Conn./Windsor) produced 19 points and eight rebounds. Gil and Stephens each reached double figures by scoring, with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

The Lightning concluded a brief homestand, and head back to Brooklyn on Wednesday, January 22, for a matchup at Medgar Evers College. The game is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m.
