NEW YORK --- Anthony Lewis scored 35 points while pulling down 17 rebounds and tallying five steals to lead the City College of New York men's basketball team to a 92-85 win over visiting Brooklyn College on Friday night at the Nat Holman Gymnasium.

Lewis went the distance, playing all 40 minutes of the game. Manfred Cadet likewise didn't see the bench, scoring a season-high 20 points while dishing out eight assists with eight rebounds and three steals. Nathan Lopez provided instant offense off the bench, finishing with a season-high 16 points with three assists and two steals. Jordan Ortega played tough inside, contributing ten points while collecting eight rebounds and a block.

For the Bulldogs, Jai Kellman was spectacular in rallying Brooklyn, cutting to the basket for layups again and again to finish with 26 points on 10-of-21 shooting with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Valon Djombalic totaled 19 points on eight shots with 11 rebounds and two blocks. Jamel Gist contributed 16 points while Stephen Diaz added nine.

CCNY led for most of the first half, using a 10-0 run to go up by 15 with 6:32 left on a three-pointer by Lewis. The Beavers led 47-36 going into the break.

In the second, CCNY held an 18 point lead after a fast break layup from Cadet five minutes in, but the Bulldogs would rally. Kellman took control, scoring 19 points. Brooklyn outscored City 16-2 to cut the lead to four with 10:13 left, appropriately on a layup from Kellman. It seemed every time CCNY appeared to have regained momentum, Kellman drove to the rim for another basket. The Beavers had to dig deep to persevere, making free throws down the stretch. Clinging to a four point lead with 22 seconds left, Lewis buried both free throws to give City some breathing room. After a Brooklyn free throw, Cadet hit two clutch shots from the line with 15 ticks remaining, and CCNY would hold on.

Up next for the Beavers, the team travels to Mitchell College on Sunday for a 2:00 p.m. game.
