John Ivy Sparks Second Half Rally for Brockport

Senior John Ivy (Rochester, NY/East) scored 17 of his game-high 22 points in the second half leading The College at Brockport Men's Basketball team to a 78-64 win over Oswego Friday night in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game in the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium in Brockport.

Brockport (10-1 Overall, 4-0 SUNYAC) led by as many as eight points in the first half but Oswego (10-4, 4-3) rallied to tie the score at 37-37 at the halftime intermission.

In the second half, Brockport came out flying scoring the first 13 points of the half with a pair of 3-pointers by senior Matt Lee (Ballston Lake, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), a 3-pointer by Brandon Caruthers (Rochester, NY/East), a jumper by Dorian Hayden (East Northport, NY/Northport) and a pair of free throws by Ivy.

The Lakers chipped away at the lead and got to within four points at 53-49 with 12:35 remaining in the half but an Ivy 3-pointer stretched the lead to seven points and another Ivy 3-pointer at the 9:20 mark made it an 11-point Brockport lead at 64-53.

Ivy's layup at 4:33 made it a 15-point advantage and the Golden Eagles cruised through the final minutes for the ninth win in a row and 10th victory of the season.

Ivy finished with 22 points, Caruthers had 15, Lee had 13 and Patrick Coyle (North Chili, NY/Bishop Kearney) added 10 points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds as well as five blocks. Lee led the team with six steals and Caruthers had a team-best five assists.
