Hamburg, N.Y. - The Pitt-Bradford men's basketball team suffered an 84-76 loss on the road to the Hilbert Hawks on Wednesday, Jan. 15.
Senior Brandon McClester continued his recent success on the floor, finishing with a game-high 22 points, 10 rebounds and one assist for his second straight double-double.
Junior Tyler Fantaskey scored a season-high 21 points. Fantaskey added nine rebounds to his total, missing the double-double by just one rebound.
Pitt-Bradford (7-7, 3-4) began the game by going toe-to-toe with the Hawks, not letting the home team put together any sort of run on its home court.
With 10:45 remaining in the first half, junior Keith Burgess hit a short jumper that tied the game at 18 points each. The Hawks were then able to add six unanswered points to take a small lead with just over seven minutes remaining in the first half.
As the first half began winding down, the Hawks added to their lead, but not before the Panthers put together a small run of their own and headed into the locker room trailing just 42-38.

The Hawks shot just 43.8 percent from the floor, including 42.9 from behind the three-point line. They were 8-of-11 from the charity stripe.
Hilbert (11-2, 6-1) opened the second half with a slower attack than it finished with in the first twenty minutes. As a result, the Panthers were able to force two ties in just the first five minutes of play.
From that point on, it was all Hilbert. The Panthers were able to keep it close but each time they came within reach of tying the game or taking the lead, Hilbert found a way to get the ball in the basket.
The Panthers gave the Hawks one last run at overtaking their lead late in the game. With just over three minutes remaining in the contest, McClester hit a short jumper that brought the Panthers within two points.
The moment was short lived though as the Hawks immediately went on a run to put the game away. Hilbert's Jerame Owens hit his second free-throw shot with eight seconds left to equal the final score.
